I have found myself uneasy and wanting to write this week. However, I knew that I had to be careful, since this topic is still a raw wound with many people.

Two weeks ago, a man in Minneapolis was killed by an officer. The event sent shock waves across world and prompted many to take to the streets in protest, some of which became violent. Many of these protests share the statement that Black Lives Matter. While this is true, black lives do matter, but so do the lives of every human. You matter. Your life matters.

The point is that social injustice does not just happen to African American people. It happens to everyone. It does not care if you are Native American, Asian, European, Oceanic, LGBT, poor or rich, innocent, or guilty, it happens just the same. All lives matter, period.

If these protests were happening in Jesus’ time and were led by Jesus himself, maybe the signs would read #SamarianLivesMatter or even further against the grain #RomanLivesMatter. Jesus died for everyone. To Him all lives matter. If you do not believe me, check out the gospel of John or even Luke. Together they have the majority of Jesus’ encounters with non-Jewish people.

I want to leave you with a song from DC Talk. It is from another era, yet the message is clear. We as a nation need to come together, talk about our issues, repent for our wrongs to one another and God, them forgive our fellow brothers and sisters and ourselves. Only then will the real change begin.

God Bless.
